Crispy Roast Duck with Honey Glaze


  • 1 whole duck (about 4-5 pounds)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish


  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C
  2. Rinse the duck under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper, both inside and out.
  3. Place the duck on a roasting rack set in a roasting pan, breast side up.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar to make the glaze.
  5. Brush the duck all over with the honey glaze.
  6. Roast the duck in the preheated oven for 1½ to 2 hours, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  7. Baste the duck with the honey glaze every 30 minutes during cooking.
  8. Once cooked, remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
