An essential kitchen fixture, cooker hoods are a must-have in all kitchens. They help create a comfortable cooking environment by siphoning smoke, fumes, and odours away as you create your MasterChef creations.

With different types and models available, which one suits your kitchen best? Here are 3 tips to consider when buying your next cooker hood:

𝟭) 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.

Depending on the size of your kitchen space, you might need different types of hoods.

For example, EF’s CK FINO PLUS BK Cooker Hood is wall mounted and great for large kitchens.

Whereas the EFCH 9108T BK Slimline model is designed to be slim, perfect for integrating into your existing cabinets. Choose from 60cm or 90cm hoods to fit your space, with a large range of cooker hoods of different sizes, we are sure you will find one that fits your home perfectly here at EF!

𝟮) 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲

To choose the right extraction rate, take your kitchen’s size (Length X Width in M³) and multiply by 10 to get your extraction rate. For example, (10M X 6M) X 10 = 600M³.

In general, Cooker Hoods with an extraction rate above 600m3/hr is considered to be in the powerful range.

EF’s CK Vista, CK Luna IS, and CK VETRO PLUS are perfect with their impressive 1200m3/hr extraction rate.

Have a smaller kitchen or perhaps you only cook light? EF also carries a range of hoods that are smaller in size and fit seamlessly under your kitchen cabinet, while still having powerful extraction rates well above the 600m3/hr mark.

𝟯) 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀

With a high extraction rate of 𝟴𝟮𝟱𝗺𝟯/𝗵𝗿, one might think that EFCH 9232 HM SS might be loud & disruptive. However, it has a low noise level of <59 dB (A) which is only a noise level of a normal conversation between two people.

Adjusting the fan speed is a great way to control the noise too! Turn them down to reduce the noise level, and turn them up if you have heavy cooking sessions. EF’s Cooker Hoods come with up to 3 Fan Speeds.

Control them in style with our modern touch controls, such as a Digital Touch Control in EFCH 9232 HM SS, and Invisible Touch Control on EFCH 9234T BK.  Both of which blend beautifully with their matte black glass panel.
